Dhebar Lake (also known as Jaisamand Lake) is Asia's second-largest artificial lake (is considered largest now, since the Upper lake in Bhopal, India is the largest artificial lake in Asia, but is almost dried up due to lack of rainfall) . This lake covers an area of 36 sq km, stretches to a length of 14 km and width of 9 km. The lake is deep to the maximum of 102 feet and has a circumference of 30 miles. The lake also boasts of six interesting cenotaphs carved from marble on its embankment.

This artificial lake was constructed Rana Jai Singh in 17th century. It is an excellent picnic spot, especially during the rainy season when entire side turns lush green. During monsoons, greenery all around gives a visual treat. A large island in the middle of the lake with grassland presents eye catching spectacle to its visitors. These sprawling lawns were used to hold large parties by the ruling reign.

The Jaisamand sanctuary is located besides an artificial lake, which is popularly referred to as Dhevar Lake. Rajasthan is as famous for its wildlife sanctuaries as for is forts and palaces.  It is located at a distance of 51 km south east of Udaipur and spread over an area of 160 square km. This sanctuary is the habitat of innumerable species which includes sloth bear, leopard, chital, chinkara, wild boar and a large number of the birds that breed here such as darter, open bill stork, pond heron, little cormorant and Indian Shag.
